You’re exhausted from caring so much

You’re exhausted from giving so much—yet your to-do list never ends. Your body aches, your mind races, and you feel guilty for even thinking about rest.

You’ve tried self-care checklists, productivity hacks, maybe even other self-care programs—but they always seem to ask you to do more, not feel more.

You know something has to change, but “self-care” feels like another thing to fail at. You want to keep showing up for justice, for your team, for your community—without abandoning your own body in the process.

If you’ve been wondering how to find somatic coaching for burnout that honours both your body and your values, you’re in the right place.

The Kindness Lab is your body-based alternative to burnout

The Kindness Lab is where you learn to listen to your body, set boundaries with compassion, and take action from a place of strength.

No toxic positivity. No quick fixes. Just practical tools rooted in kindness, somatic awareness, and systemic change—so you’re not just coping, you’re changing the conditions that keep you exhausted.

  • Learn how to set boundaries with kindness—without abandoning your values.
  • Use body-based coaching for helpers to notice your cues before you hit the wall.
  • Experiment with kindness as a tool for systemic change, not just individual self-soothing.
  • Build somatic rituals that take 5 minutes a day, not 5 hours a week.

Why I created The Kindness Lab

Hi, I’m Peter. I grew up with scoliosis, migraines, and a body that didn’t match the pace the world was asking of me. For decades, I tried to push through—until my body simply refused.

Over the last 50 years, I’ve explored kindness from every angle: as a person in chronic pain, as a clinician, as a somatic coach, and as someone who cares deeply about justice and systemic change.

Again and again, I saw the same pattern: brilliant, big-hearted people burning out while trying to fix systems that were never designed to be kind to them. Their bodies were telling the truth—long before their minds could catch up.

I created The Kindness Lab because I believe healing is a radical act—and it starts with you. When you learn to listen to your body, honor your limits, and set boundaries with compassion, you don’t step away from change. You become a sturdier part of it.

My work weaves together 25+ years as a clinician, deep training in somatic and trauma-informed approaches, and ongoing writing and podcasting about kindness, pain, and systemic change.

Is The Kindness Lab for you?

This program is especially for helpers, activists, and changemakers who want to keep showing up for the world without disappearing from themselves.

The Kindness Lab is for you if…

  • You’re tired of “pushing through” pain, migraines, or exhaustion just to get through the day.
  • You want to set boundaries without guilt or feeling like you’re letting people down.
  • You care about justice and fairness—and you know your well-being is part of the long-term solution.
  • You’re curious about body-based coaching for helpers that honors trauma, power, and systems.
  • You’re ready to experiment with being kinder to yourself, even if you’re not totally sure what that means yet.

The Kindness Lab is not for you if…

  • You’re looking for a quick fix, a detox, or another productivity hack.
  • You want to override your body so you can get more done, rather than listen to it.
  • You’re not interested in questioning the systems and cultures that keep you exhausted.
  • You want a one-size-fits-all answer instead of a space for curiosity and experimenting.
  • You’re not willing to show up with care for yourself and the group.

Questions people often ask

It’s normal to have questions—especially if you’ve tried other self-care or coaching programs that didn’t quite land. Here’s what we hear most often.

“I don’t have time for this.”

The Kindness Lab is designed for busy people whose lives are already full. Each live session is 60 minutes, and you’ll leave with practical tools you can use in just 5 minutes a day. We focus on small, doable somatic practices you can weave into meetings, caregiving, organizing, and everyday life.

“I’ve tried self-care programs before, and they didn’t work.”

Most self-care programs are built on the same hustle values they’re trying to soften. This isn’t another self-care bandage. We look at root causes—how your body holds stress, how guilt keeps you stuck, and how the systems around you shape your capacity. We move at the speed of your nervous system, not your inner critic.

“I can’t afford it.”

Money is real, and we take it seriously. That’s why The Kindness Lab offers sliding scale pricing and payment plans. Our goal is to make this work sustainable for both you and us, not to gatekeep care. When enrollment opens, you’ll see transparent pricing and guidance to help you choose the tier that fits best.

“I’m not sure if this will work for me.”

If you’re a helper, activist, or changemaker who’s tired of burning out, this program is for you. We don’t promise magic cures—we offer experiments, body-based tools, and a community that gets it. You can try the first session risk-free: if it doesn’t feel like a fit, you can step away.

“Is this therapy?”

The Kindness Lab is a coaching and education space, not psychotherapy or medical treatment. We draw on Peter’s clinical background and somatic training, but we stay within a coaching frame: learning skills, experimenting with practices, and noticing patterns together.

Why Kindness Is the Missing Piece in Burnout Recovery

Most advice about burnout focuses on doing less or organizing better. But for many helpers and changemakers, the missing ingredient isn’t another system—it’s kindness. Not a vague feeling, but a concrete practice of how you relate to your body, your limits, and the systems around you.

When you approach burnout with somatic coaching for burnout, you stop asking your mind to think its way out of exhaustion. Instead, you learn to notice how your body says “too much,” “not yet,” or “this is okay.” That information becomes the compass for how to set boundaries with kindness—with yourself, with work, and with the causes you care about.

In The Kindness Lab, we treat kindness as more than a personal virtue. We explore kindness as a tool for systemic change: a way to notice where systems are harming bodies, including your own, and to choose responses that are sustainable instead of sacrificial.

If you’d like to go deeper into this conversation, you can explore more on Peter’s Substack and podcast, where we talk about body-based coaching for helpers, nervous system care, and what an anti-hustle self-care program can actually look like in real life.

And if you’re already nodding along, the next step is simple: join the waitlist for The Kindness Lab so you can decide, with your body, whether this is the right space for you.
